Introducing . . . Logan William Heath

Logan made his grand entrance at 7:03 p.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2008. He weighed in at 8 lbs. 13 oz., and was 19 1/2 inches long. Robin labored at home until around 4:30 p.m., and then it was off to the hospital. Being somewhat leery of hospitals (or at least the nurses' insistence that laboring women need to labor from a bed) Robin elected to walk around the parking lot of the hospital for about an hour before we checked in. Her contractions steadily grew stronger. Once we got in the hospital (it was like pulling teeth for me to get Robin in there), things went very quickly. To Robin's chagrin (arguably her somewhat less than principled chagrin given her rapidly escalating contractions), the nurse coaxed Robin onto the delivery bed at around 5:45 p.m. Robin labored diligently for another hour or so before her doctor arrived. Once Dr. Vogel arrived, the process took off. Fast! Robin's water broke at around 6:45 p.m., the doctor and nurses hurriedly prepared the bed and room for delivery, Robin made two herculean pushes, and, viola!, Logan William Heath was born. Amazing!
